Matchpools ("we," "our," or "us") is a product of Equilibrium LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Matchpools mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By using Matchpools, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who We Are and Who Can Use Matchpools
Matchpools is a community-based dating application currently designed exclusively for college students. Users must be 18 years of age or older to create an account. Matchpools is operated by Equilibrium LLC, and by joining the waitlist or creating an account, you acknowledge that we process your personal data as described here.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you register and use Matchpools, we collect:
Account details: name, email address, age, and college/university affiliation
Profile information: photos, bio, relationship goals, lifestyle preferences, and personal values you choose to share
Pool activity: Pools you create, join, or request to join; the Pool themes, descriptions, and membership criteria you set
Swiping and matching data: your likes, passes, and mutual matches within Pools
Messages: content of direct messages sent between matched users
Community posts: content you post anonymously or publicly within the Matchpools community feed
Waitlist information: email address submitted to join the pre-launch waitlist
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
We may automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including:
Device identifiers and operating system information
App usage data, session lengths, and feature interactions
IP address and approximate location (city/region level, not precise GPS unless you explicitly grant permission)
Log data such as crash reports and error logs
2.3 Information From Third Parties
If you choose to link a third-party account (such as a college email for verification), we may receive limited information from that provider to confirm your eligibility as a college student.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Create and maintain your Matchpools account and profile
Populate and display your profile within Pools you join, so other Pool members can see your profile and swipe
Facilitate Pool creation, discovery, join requests, and membership decisions by Pool owners
Generate and display mutual matches within Pools
Enable in-app messaging between matched users
Display community posts (anonymously or with your identity, based on your settings)
Verify college student eligibility where required
Send service-related communications, including waitlist notifications, match alerts, and account updates
Improve and personalize the Service, including surfacing Pools that align with your stated goals and vibe
Ensure safety, detect abuse, and enforce our community standards
Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for advertising. Matchpools is designed to be free of monetized friction — we do not allow advertisers to target you based on your dating profile or Pool activity.
4. Pools: How Your Data Is Shared Within the App
The core feature of Matchpools is the Pool — a curated group built around shared goals, lifestyle, and relationship intentions. You should understand how your data flows within this system:
Profile visibility: When you join a Pool, your profile (photos, bio, and goals) is visible to other members of that Pool for swiping purposes.
Pool creation: If you create a Pool, you control its name, theme, description, and who is accepted as a member. Your identity as the Pool creator may be visible to members.
Join requests: When you request to join a Pool, the Pool creator can see your profile to decide whether to accept or decline your request.
Matches: When two users mutually like each other within a Pool, both users are notified and can begin messaging. Your match history is private to you.
Anonymous posts: When you post anonymously in the community, your name and profile photo are hidden, but we retain your identity internally for safety and moderation purposes.
Public posts: When you post publicly, your name and profile photo are visible to other Matchpools users.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your data in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: Trusted third-party vendors who assist with hosting, analytics, email delivery, and app infrastructure, who are contractually bound to protect your data.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of Matchpools users.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred; we will notify you before that occurs.
With Your Consent: For any other sharing not described here, we will ask for your explicit consent.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your profile, photos, messages, and Pool activity within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal compliance or safety investigations. Waitlist email addresses are retained until the waitlist program ends or you request removal.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access and review the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information in your profile or account
Delete your account and associated personal data
Withdraw consent for optional data processing
Opt out of non-essential communications

8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission and secure server infrastructure. Matchpools is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user under 18 has created an account, we will promptly delete that account and its associated data.
10. Third-Party Links and Integrations
Matchpools may display links to external websites or social media profiles (such as Instagram or TikTok). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party platforms. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the app and updating the effective date. Your continued use of Matchpools after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
